Photo exhibition at Anker’t

In cooperation with Balassagyarmat Prison and Correctional Facilty, The Tévelygőkért Foundation organises family visitations during which convicted fathers can meet their families under more intimate and relaxed circumstances. The Foundation's volunteers have established a family play corner in the dining room and organise games, music and drawing workshops in order to facilitate interaction between fathers and children. These occasions are obviously not idyllic but in comparison to formal visitations, these loud and lively events are a lot more valuable for both children and parents.

The project also aims to sensitize professionals who work with inmates and their children, as well society in general, which is why this exhibition has been organised. The question of whether it is right to exhibit photographs of the children is a difficult one. We believe however that it is better to fight indifference and prejudice by illustrating their plight.

The exhibition is part of the „Mirkó – for the children convicts” project supported by Norway Grants. Special thanks to First Counselor and Colonel, Institute Commander of Balassagyarmat Prison and Correctional Facility
